James E. Kearney, remembered as a man of deep faith and generosity, was honored for his profound impact on those around him. Born in America, Kearney was known for his dedication to education, his achievements in athletics, and his success in business. Despite facing significant challenges and a fatal illness, he embraced his suffering with grace, finding solace in his faith and dedicating his final days to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and receiving Holy Communion.

Kearney’s belief that Jesus was with him through his trials and his acceptance of his suffering as a means to alleviate the suffering of others left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His reflection, “Beauty is in the struggle,” epitomizes his unwavering faith and commitment to helping others.

The vigil was not only a reflection on James's life but also a celebration of his legacy—a legacy of faith, perseverance, and selflessness. The gathering served as a powerful reminder of the closeness of Jesus and the peace that comes from trusting in God’s plan.

It served as a heartfelt tribute to Kearney’s life and legacy, setting a meaningful tone for the upcoming inauguration of the J.E. Kearney Memorial R/C School. This institution stands as a testament to his enduring spirit and dedication to education, embodying the values he cherished.

As we remember James E. Kearney, let us draw inspiration from his life and faith. May his story encourage us all to face our own challenges with the same courage and hope that James exhibited. His example reminds us of the profound impact one life can have when lived with purpose and devotion.
